Remember the dead. Fight like hell for the living.--"Mother Jones" "As Bismarck once remarked in a famous speech, moral courage is in any case a rare virtue in Germany; but it deserts a German completely the moment he puts on a uniform." [From Defying Hitler, by Sebastian Haffner]. The Sailors United for Self-Defense is website with specific goals, our mission statement is as follows: • the mutual aid and protection of sailors and others in the U.S. Armed Forces; • promoting peace, generally, within the military family; • securing a thorough and impartial investigation into the death of RMSN Allen Richard Schindler USN (13 December 1969 to 27-28 October 1992), to determine without preconception, the identity of all persons involved in that murder and the respective roles of each; • such appropriate action as may be indicated by the facts developed through such investigation; • to determine whether, and which, residents of the United States can serve with safety in the U.S. Armed Forces (including reserves) or the National Guard; in light of the murder of Allen Schindler, and more recently, of PFC Barry Winchell; • to honor the life and memory of Allen Schindler, by completing his work; specifically, the founding of an organization for the mutual aid and protection of sailors; • to examine legal issues surrounding the life, death, and especially the Navy service, of Allen Schindler; • to determine whether changes to the Oath of Office, taken by members of the U.S. Armed Forces, might be advisable in light of Allen Schindler's death to better conform that Oath to the Constitution, by defining the "domestic enemies" to be combatted; and, • fund raising to support the foregoing purposes. Sailors United for Self-Defense takes no position on the vexed question of gays in the military, leaving that matter where the Constitution lodges it--with the good judgment of Congress. While we champion truth; we do not seek to punish anyone, favoring restorative over retributive justice. [Kindly see our
